Pajama Party at Stone Zoo – May 29!

What if you could come to Stone Zoo – in your pajamas!? This family-friendly program promises to be loads of fun! Registrants will receive special late entry to the Zoo, a night-time snack, special story-time, a craft project, and up-close encounters with our hyacinth macaw and prehensile-tailed skink! This very special evening will be held May 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Stone Zoo Animal Discovery Center. The cost is $8 per participant, $4 for each additional participant. Stone Zoo’s Lord of the Wings Opens Saturday, May 23

The birds are back at Stone Zoo for a return engagement of the memorable and educational Lord of the Wings: Birds of Prey live, free-flight bird show. Birds from around the world demonstrate natural behaviors including unique survival techniques and food foraging, as well as specialized physical adaptations that make them some of the most formidable birds on the planet. This is an experience not to be missed! All shows are free with paid admission.

May 23 – Labor Day (September 7); Daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.

Stone Zoo’s Teddy Bear Check-up Day is tomorrow!

Bring your favorite teddy bear to Stone Zoo for a day of cuddly fun! Zoo staff will be on hand to give your bear a check up and a clean bill of health. Later, march through the Zoo in the annual Teddy Bear Parade. Along the way, say hello to Smoky and Bubba, Stone Zoo’s resident black bears, and meet Yukon, Stone Zoo’s costumed black bear mascot! Wildly popular children’s entertainer, Su Eaton, will perform and entertain from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Celebrate Endangered Species Day!

May 15 – 17 at Franklin Park Zoo

Did you know that Endangered Species Day is May 15? Did you know that Franklin Park Zoo is home to several endangered species including gorillas, Amur leopards, Panamanian golden frogs, Grevy’s zebras and others?

On May 15 – May 17 visit the Zoo and learn about these incredible animals as well as others that call Franklin Park Zoo home.

Meet our Zoo staff and learn about animals and conservation!

11:00 a.m. – Bird’s World Keeper Talk

Friday: Andean condor, at the Flight Cage
Saturday: Tree kangaroo, at exhibit in Outback Trail
Sunday: Andean condor, at Flight Cage

11:45 a.m. – Meet a Zoo educator and learn about frogs!

This talk will be held the same time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Panamanian golden frog exhibit inside the Tropical Forest.

12:30 p.m. – Giraffe Savannah Keeper Talk

This talk will focus on the Grevy’s zebras and will be held at the same time location Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Talk will be held at the Giraffe Savannah exhibit.

1:15 p.m. – Meet a Zoo educator and learn about cotton-top tamarins!

This talk will be held the same time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the cotton-top tamarin exhibit inside the Tropical Forest.

2:00 p.m. – Tropical Forest Keeper Talk

This talk will focus on gorillas and will be held at the same location Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Talk will be held at the exhibit inside the Tropical Forest.

2:30 p.m. – Meet a Zoo educator and learn about African wild dogs!

This talk will be held the same time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the African wild dog exhibit.

3:00 p.m. – Children’s Zoo Keeper Talk

This talk will focus on Amur leopards and will be held at the same location Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Talk will be held at the Amur leopard exhibit.

Endangered Species Day is a celebration of our nation’s wildlife and wild places. Started in 2006 by the United States Congress, Endangered Species Day is the third Friday of May.

Is there a better way to spend quality time with Mom? Bring the entire family to either Franklin Park Zoo or Stone Zoo for an enjoyable day learning about new and unique animals on exhibit. Mothers receive FREE admission on Mother’s Day!

Stone Zoo Announces Saturday Bottle and Can Drives

Bring your bottles and cans to Stone Zoo!

If you are interested in not only helping the environment but contributing to a worthy cause, bring your empty bottles and cans to Stone Zoo during the Bottle and Can Drive – held the second Saturday of each month through October.

All of the proceeds from this annual fundraiser benefit conservation efforts supported by Zoo New England, the non-profit organization that manages Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo. In the past, proceeds have been used to purchase recycling bins for visitors and staff at Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo.

This year’s Bottle and Can Drive will be held:

May 9
June 13
July 11
August 15
September 12

Each Bottle and Can Drive is held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Stone Zoo parking lot, located at 149 Pond St. To learn more, visit http://www.stonezoo.org.
