Have You Seen the Barn Owl Chick at Franklin Park Zoo?

Be sure to visit the chick, who hatched February 18, in the Brooder Barn in Franklin Farm! Fun fact: Barn owls acquire adult-like plumage 10-12 weeks after hatching.

Pajama Party at Franklin Park Zoo – March 26, 2010

Don’t miss the upcoming Pajama Party at Franklin Park Zoo! Registrants for these family-friendly programs will receive special late entry to the Zoo, a night-time snack, special story time, a craft project, and an up-close encounter with one of our animals. Discover the Tropical Rainforest at Stone Zoo

As the weather begins to warm up, we’re going to think warm, tropical thoughts – about the rainforest! Discover the layers of the rainforest during a special Tropical Rainforest class for 5-7 years olds, and learn about some of the animals that live there. Classes will be held March 17 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. and March 20 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. $8 Members/$10 Non-Members. Pre-registration is required. To register call 617-989-3742.

Mark your calendar for Bunny Bonanzoo! This beloved Easter-themed event returns to Stone Zoo on April 3 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will feature games, crafts and other fun surprises. Be sure to visit with the Easter Bunny who will be ready to smile for pictures!

Samuel and Balthazar at Franklin Park Zoo

The next time you are at the Zoo be sure to look for Poitou donkeys Samuel and Balthazar. The Poitou donkey, known as the Baudet du Poitou in French, is an extremely rare breed of donkey. The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy lists the Poitou as critical on its Conservation Priority List. Samuel and Balthazar can be seen in Franklin Farm – be sure to stop by!

A Wild Affair 2010!

Tickets for the sixth annual A Wild Affair are on sale now! A Wild Affair is a “tasting” event that will feature stations hosted by local restaurants and caterers – as well as live entertainment, a silent auction, and an opportunity to stroll among the animals. April Spring Break Happenings at Franklin Park and Stone Zoos

This special week will feature animal encounters, arts and crafts, games, behind-the-scenes tours, and other fun, educational activities to keep your children engaged, even while school is out.
