Help Hamisi Celebrate His 1st Birthday July 23rd at Franklin Park Zoo!

Hamisi and his mom, Jana from 2009

Join Dad, Beau and Mom, Jana to help celebrate the birth of their male offspring, Hamisi, during a special 1st birthday party at Franklin Park Zoo.

Hamisi was the third calf born to Beau and Jana. The giraffes make their home on the Giraffe Savannah at Franklin Park Zoo.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy a complimentary animal-themed yoga class for all ages, led by instructor, Katy O’Brien, from Stil Studio at Dedham’s Legacy Place, special zookeeper encounters throughout the day and the opportunity to sign a giant birthday card for Hamisi.

Don’t miss an engaging talk about pumas and conservation at Stone Zoo!

WHEN: July 17, 1:00 p.m.

Stone Zoo Animal Discovery Center Stone Zoo is pleased to welcome Zara McDonald, Founder and Executive Director of Felidae Conservation Fund, who will speak about pumas and conservation. The talk will be about San Francisco Bay Area pumas and the work currently underway to study and protect them. These keystone predators (also called mountain lions) play a critical role in maintaining the health and biodiversity of their ecosystems. However, expansion of human populations is causing increasing encounters and conflicts between humans and pumas, and growing tensions in local communities. The program will provide a compelling view of the natural grace and beauty of these animals and will delve into the biological and ecological science that is working for their preservation.

This talk is FREE with paid Zoo admission. For more information visit http://www.stonezoo.org.
